Eugene Doesn't Need to Try Hard
There’s no boardwalk here. No big-ticket theme park, no skyline to gawk at. What Eugene has is a river running straight through the middle of town, a south-end hill you can be standing on top of twenty minutes after you finish your coffee, a Saturday market older than most cities’ downtown revitalization plans, and neighborhoods that still feel like neighborhoods.
We put this guide together because we live here, and we got tired of watching visitors get steered toward the same five chain-restaurant recommendations. This is the Eugene we actually send our friends to when they’re in town — the trails, the food trucks, the markets, the day trips worth the gas money. Bookmark it, screenshot it, whatever works.
